Call (737) 320-3400 and we'll take a look.

What metal roof problems do you fix?

Most metal roof issues come down to a few culprits, and nearly all are fixable without a full replacement. If your roof is only a section away from another good decade, a repair is almost always the smarter call — and we'll tell you honestly when that's the case.

ProblemWhat's usually going on
Leaks around penetrationsChimneys, vents, and skylights are the usual suspects — failed flashing or sealant, not the panels themselves.
Loose or backed-out screwsOn exposed-fastener roofs, rubber washers dry out in Texas heat and screws work loose. Very fixable.
Separated or lifted seamsWind and thermal movement can open a seam. Caught early, it is a repair, not a replacement.
Damaged or dented panelsHail and fallen limbs. Individual panels can often be replaced without redoing the roof.
Worn sealant and flashingSealant has a shorter life than the metal. Refreshing it prevents the leak before it starts.
Rusted or cut edgesUsually at cut edges or scratches. Treatable if caught before it spreads.

Do you handle storm and hail damage?

Yes — in Round Rock it's most of what we do. This town has taken three damaging hail events in under two years, and hail can dent panels, chip finishes, and loosen fasteners even when nothing looks wrong from the driveway. We offer free storm inspections, document what we find for your insurer, and can meet your adjuster on-site.

Round Rock's recent hail history

DateWhat came downWhere it hit
24 Sept 2023 Baseball- and softball-sized hail, 1.5" to nearly 4" Old Town through Cat Hollow and Teravista
22 Apr 2025 Hail over 2 inches; golf-ball to tennis-ball in Georgetown East Round Rock and south Georgetown
28 May 2025 Hail up to 1.5 inches Across the Round Rock area

The September 2023 storm is the benchmark. The National Weather Service put losses across Williamson and Travis counties at $600 million — the costliest hailstorm in Austin-area history, and about four times the previous record of $160 million in 2009. $300 million of that was Williamson County alone. Round Rock ISD reported broken skylights and windows, dented HVAC units and leaking roofs across its facilities. Months afterward there were still tarps on houses.

If your roof went through any of those storms and has never been looked at, that's worth a call. Damage from a 2025 storm is still inside the Texas filing window.

Storm figures: National Weather Service estimates, reported by KXAN, KVUE and CBS Austin.

Most hail denting on metal is cosmetic rather than structural — that's exactly why metal holds up so well here — but it's still worth having looked at, and it's often covered by your policy. See our hail & insurance claim guide for how the process works.

How do I know if my metal roof is damaged?

Worth a call if you notice any of these — especially after a storm:

  • Water stains on ceilings or walls
  • Visible dents or dimples after a hailstorm
  • Screws sitting proud of the panel surface
  • Lifted, separated, or rippling seams
  • Paint flecks or granules collecting in your gutters
  • Daylight visible in the attic

Please don't climb up to check yourself — metal roofs are slick, and a free inspection costs you nothing. Catching a small leak now beats paying for water damage later.

Should I repair or replace my metal roof?

It depends on the age and extent of the problem. A localized leak or a handful of loose fasteners on an otherwise sound roof is a repair. Widespread hail damage, a roof near the end of its life, or repeated leaks in different spots usually points to replacement — often insurance-assisted after a storm. We'll give you the honest answer, not the more expensive one. Learn about metal roof replacement.

How much does metal roof repair cost?

It varies with the problem — a simple sealant or fastener fix is minor, while storm repairs depend on the damage and whether insurance is involved. We won't quote a repair blind; the free inspection is how we give you a real number. Call (737) 320-3400 and we'll come take a look.

Metal roof repair FAQs

Can I still claim damage from the September 2023 Round Rock hailstorm?
Almost certainly not — Texas generally allows two years from the date of the storm, and 24 September 2023 is outside that window. The April and May 2025 storms are a different story, and if your roof took hail then and has never been inspected, it is worth calling. We will tell you honestly what we find either way, and we cannot guarantee what your insurer decides.
Do I need a permit to repair my roof in Round Rock?
Not for a repair or a straight re-roof — the City of Round Rock does not require a permit for a residential re-roof. If the work changes the roof structure rather than replacing what is there, that needs a residential remodel permit. On commercial buildings a permit is required for a flat roof replacement, and on a pitched roof only if the decking is being replaced.
Do you offer emergency metal roof repair?
If you have an active leak, call right away and we will get you scheduled as quickly as possible and help you protect your home in the meantime. Storm damage and active leaks get priority over routine work.
Will insurance cover my hail-damaged metal roof?
Often, yes — if hail or wind caused the damage, your homeowner policy may cover repair or replacement. In Texas you have two years from the storm date to file, and we can document the damage and work with your adjuster.
Can a small leak really wait?
It is best not to wait. A small metal-roof leak lets water into your decking and attic, where it spreads into insulation, drywall, and framing. A quick repair now is almost always cheaper than the water damage later.
How much does metal roof repair cost?
It depends on the problem. A sealant or fastener fix is minor; storm repairs depend on the extent of the damage and whether insurance is involved. We will not quote a repair sight unseen — the free inspection is how you get a real number.
